Farragut Wins Plate Championship
Farragut 17, Franklin 12

May 13th, 2007

Farragut High School boys clinched the Tennessee High School Rugby State Plate Championship by besting Franklin from Nashville by a score of 17-12 in the championship match of the Tennessee High School Rugby State Bowl Championships. The tournament was held in Brentwood Tennessee, and sponsored by Tennessee High School Rugby.

The game was full of action and it was a very back and forth afair. Franklin went up at the beginning of the game with nice ball movement and Farragut quickly answered, 7-5. Both teams traded the lead and it was a great game with two evenly matched teams. However, Franklin kept hurting their cause as they continually gave away penalties which Bryan Mann easily slotted. In fact, the sure footed #13 was 4 for 4 on the day with penalties.

The game went down to the wire as both teams traded points. In fact Farragut was up 17-12 with 2 minutes left as Franklin hard charged into their oppenents 22. But the last pass from the Nashville team went to ground 2 feet away from the try line and time expired making Farragut the 2007 Plate Winners.
