The Brentwood Brumbies experience and confidence saw them through as they put the finishing touches
on a 4th consecutive championship in the curtain call of the 2005 championships. But not without a big test from the Old Red of Knoxville West who had the majority of the possession in the first half and had the defending champs a bit uneasy. Scrumhalf Seth Jones got the Brumbies on track and on the score card first after great running from the injured warrior Benji Goff and support from his pack buddies, eventually sliding off a ruck and diving over the line for a determined score. Easily converted by the #10, Chad Edmunds, who would go 3 for 3 on the day. Halftime 7-0.

The previously quiet crowd was finally in it as the two teams battled back and forth. West center Wes Crawford and his mates consistently rebuffed Brentwood attacks and kept the ball from the line with massive kicks back the other way giving Brumby fullback Grerald King a full day's work.

As they had done all year to others, Brentwood quickly capitalized on West mistakes and found themselves in scoring territory. A lineout ball to Brentwood inside the West 40m set up the prettiest try of the day as King collected a great pass after a dummy miss from the #10 and raced down the sideline for the score. Converted.

In the last few minutes, West tried hard to notch some points of their own but were jammed up in their own end by the consistently hard tackling Brentwood defense. A lineout on their 5 meter was mishandled, then intercepted by Tournament MVP Paul Vallete for the last coffin nail. The solidly converted kick marked the last points of the day as time expired giving the Brumbies their 4th consecutive THSR State Championship under coach Mike Haverstick.
